Xklude

In Distributed Software Development interfaces/API between different Software Components are shared using Header files. Readability of the interface between Software Components is directly proportional to the number of interfaces/API shared. It is very common to find large projects in situations where unwanted interfaces are offered obscuring reviews and inspections.

Unwanted inclusion of Header files reduces the readability of Component interfaces. An important goal in making code maintainable is reducing dependencies.

Xklude is a software utility that helps identify unwanted Header files in C Source files and thereby avoid unnecessary build dependencies and long compile times. Identifying unwanted Header files could also lead the reviewer to APIs which are supposed to be used across Components. Reports are generated in Text and Excel Workbook formats.

Xklude is available for purchase as Single Computer Single User license.

System Requirements

Xklude is a Windows console application / Command line program and requires 32-bit version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Tests have not been performed on Windows Vista.

To generate Excel Workbook reports from Xklude, Microsoft Excel should be already installed in the PC. Tests have only been performed with Microsoft Excel 2000 and Microsoft Excel 2003. OpenOffice is not supported.
